At the annual "Rydell Rumble" (a bowling/bike race), Michael fails to impress the gang with his proper manners. Stephanie, tired of "greasy" boys who expect women to be passive, sings "Cool Rider," describing her ideal man—a mysterious, dangerous motorcycle rider. Michael decides to transform his image.

With help from Frenchy and her beauty school expertise, Michael creates an alter ego: a mysterious, masked motorcycle rider dressed in silver leather and a helmet that conceals his identity. As this "Cool Rider," he wins Stephanie's heart through a series of elaborate musical sequences ("Who's That Guy?"), while as himself, he pretends to be a bumbling nerd to avoid suspicion. Grease 2
